11 years ago, Shooter Maren and Shooter Kendra began the Walt Goltl Kickball Invitational, named after Bergen Elementary’s Hall of Fame gym teacher Walt Goltl, who advised: “Follow the flight of the ball and move to get behind it.”

The Invitational follows standard kickball rules with a few exceptions, one of which is that no one advances past second base without a Jell-O shot (or Jell-O Jiggler...runner’s choice).

In 2004, Shooter Kendra learned about NW Kickball. In less than 4 hours, she was able to fill a roster. The league assigned the team purple t-shirts and, to capture the team’s history, Shooter Jen (aja Jell-O Jen) christened the team the “Purple Hooter Jell-O Shooters” (which is a yummy Jell-O shot, if you were wondering). And so began Shooters Kickball.

Shooters were a founding member of the Oregon Kickball Club. Shooters finished 2nd in the OKC in 2007 and in 2010.
